PLC Retrofitting & Machine Automation Upgrade
This project involves the retrofitting and automation upgrade of an
industrial Cutting and Baling Machine, aimed at improving operational
reliability, safety, and long-term maintainability.
The existing legacy control system was modernized to meet current
automation and production requirements.
The execution scope included the migration of an obsolete Siemens S5 PLC
to a modern Siemens S7-300 PLC-based automation platform.
This upgrade enables enhanced diagnostics, structured control logic,
and improved machine performance while retaining essential field devices
and mechanical systems.
The upgraded automation system provides precise control of cutting,
compression, and baling operations, ensuring consistent output quality,
reduced downtime, and safer machine operation.
The retrofit solution was executed with minimal disruption to production
while significantly extending the operational life of the machine.
